Why Refugee Women (WRW) is currently seeking board members for the year beginning May 2015. WRW is organised around a clear vision: to coordinate, promote, empower and monitor the rights of refugee women through the implementation of the Why Refugee Women Charter within Yorkshire and Humberside region. At policy level, WRW seeks to institute change and attitudes to maintain respect and dignity of asylum seeking and refugee women using the minimum standards set out in the WRW Charter for Yorkshire and Humber amongst others.
WRW currently has 8 Management Committee members and we are looking to recruit new members and volunteers, to support in the execution of the tasks below. If you share our vision of a world where refugee women are treated equally with dignity and respect, and you are knowledgeable and passionate about the issues affecting this group, then we would like to invite you to join our Management Committee.
We would particularly like to invite applications from women with the following skills:
• Finance/Funding application
• Administrative skills
• Media and Publicity
• Research (including experience in data collection)
The minimum time commitment is 1 hour per week, in addition to attendance at a 6 weekly meeting.
New management committee members will be endorsed our annual general meeting in May 2015
